A recent United Nations report presented on July 1-3, 2025, by Francesca Albanese, the Special Rapporteur for the Occupied Palestinian Territories, revealed the involvement of 48 major corporations—including Microsoft, Google (Alphabet), Amazon, IBM, Lockheed Martin, Caterpillar, and Palantir—allegedly supporting Israeli military operations and violations of international law (reuters.com). The report claims that these companies facilitate population surveillance, supply heavy machinery, and fund the military through the purchase of Israeli government bonds.
Albanese used the term "genocide economy" to describe the profitable business network sustaining the occupation and invasion of Gaza, emphasizing that "genocide continues because it benefits many parties" (en.wikipedia.org). She urged the international community to implement an arms embargo, impose economic sanctions, and hold company executives accountable through legal action.
In addition to tech and military companies, the report also includes over 1,000 global corporate entities across sectors like construction, agribusiness, banking, and energy—such as BNP Paribas, Barclays, Pimco, Vanguard, Glencore, Booking.com, and Airbnb—which are allegedly supporting the infrastructure of the occupation and illegal settlements (theguardian.com). These practices involve listing properties in occupied territories through platforms and large-scale purchases of Israeli government bonds.
Heavy machinery like Caterpillar D9 bulldozers has been used to demolish homes, infrastructure, and cultural sites in Gaza and the West Bank, actions that may constitute war crimes (en.wikipedia.org). While the company claims it cannot control the usage of these machines after the sale, numerous human rights groups have called for the cessation of their distribution.
In the energy sector, companies like BP, Chevron, and Glencore are alleged to supply fuel and electricity that prolong the blockade and Israeli military operations (somo.nl). Legal courts in various countries, including the Netherlands and Ireland, are handling lawsuits against Airbnb and Booking.com related to the rental of properties in illegal settlements.
Additionally, AI and cloud systems—such as Project Nimbus by Amazon and Google—are reported to be used by the Israeli military for mass surveillance, automated targeting (Lavender & Gospel systems), and biometric data collection of Palestinian citizens (somo.nl). Palantir has also been implicated in providing intelligence systems for the IDF, though the company denies any involvement in specific targeting programs (theguardian.com).
In response, the report calls for diplomatic and legal actions—ranging from an arms embargo, sanctions, investment withdrawal, to investigations of company executives by the International Criminal Court or national jurisdictions (theguardian.com). Some institutions, such as the KLP Pension Fund in Norway, have already begun pulling investments from companies named in the report (somo.nl). []
